Sister-in-law Anupama Singh wins ticket over brother-in-law in Jharkhand Congress race

The race for a ticket in the upcoming elections took an interesting turn as Anupama Singh, a newcomer to active politics, left her brother-in-law Kumar Gaurav behind to secure the Congress ticket from the Dhanbad seat in Jharkhand. Anupama, who is the wife of Congress MLA Jaimangal Singh, comes from a renowned political family in Koyalanchal.

The Jharkhand Pradesh Congress had initially proposed Kumar Gaurav’s name for the candidature, but Anupama’s husband’s strong lobbying proved to be decisive. Anupama may not have a personal political identity, but her late father-in-law, Rajendra Singh, was a six-time MLA from the Bermo seat and a prominent trade union leader at the national level.

After Rajendra Singh’s passing, his sons Jaimangal Singh and Kumar Gaurav continued his political legacy. Jaimangal Singh won the by-election for the Bermo seat, while Kumar Gaurav has held various leadership positions within the Congress party.

The political influence and wealth of the Singh family have been widely discussed in Jharkhand. Anupama’s entry into politics as an MP candidate marks a new chapter for the family. Despite not having an official social media presence, Anupama holds a degree in Political Science from Patna Women’s College and is the daughter of a doctor serving as a civil surgeon in Bihar.

The upcoming elections in Jharkhand are sure to be closely watched as Anupama Singh steps into the political arena, leaving her brother-in-law behind in the race for the ticket.
