Steve Garvey Trails Adam Schiff in Fundraising for U.S. Senate Campaign

Adam Schiff and Steve Garvey Raise Millions in California Senate Race

The race for California’s next U.S. senator is heating up as Democrat Adam Schiff and Republican Steve Garvey each raised over $3 million in campaign funds between February 15 and March 31. However, Schiff has maintained a significant fundraising edge, spending almost five times more than Garvey during that period.

Schiff, a member of Congress from Burbank, spent $12.5 million during the six weeks leading up to April, leaving him with $4.8 million on hand. Much of his spending went towards boosting Garvey during the primary, with a focus on associating the Republican with former President Donald Trump.

Consultants believe that Schiff’s ad blitz helped secure an easier opponent for him in the general election, as no Republican has won a statewide race in California since 2006. Schiff’s fundraising efforts also received a boost from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, which collected over $44,000 in checks on his behalf.

On the other hand, Garvey reported raising $3.4 million during the same period, with contributions from various Republican leadership PACs. However, his campaign also reported significant spending, including payments to his son for consulting services. Garvey’s campaign currently owes over $373,000 to multiple firms for fundraising and donor list services.

Additionally, Garvey himself is facing tax debt ranging from $350,000 to $750,000, as reported by The Sacramento Bee. He has stated that he is working diligently to resolve the tax debt by the end of the year.

As the race for California’s next U.S. senator continues, Schiff maintains a strong fundraising advantage over Garvey, setting the stage for an interesting and competitive election ahead.
