Governor Ron DeSantis Faces High Disapproval Ratings in New Survey, But Remains Popular Among Florida Republicans
According to a recent survey conducted by Morning Consult, Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida has one of the highest disapproval ratings among governors in the country, with 44% of voters expressing their disapproval of his performance. This places him tied for the third-highest disapproval rating, behind only governors Tina Kotek of Oregon and Kim Reynolds of Iowa.
Despite this, DeSantis remains very popular among the state’s Republican voters, with 51% of voters in Florida approving of the job he’s doing. In fact, among Republican voters, DeSantis has the second-highest approval rating of any GOP governor at 84%. Additionally, more Republicans strongly approve of DeSantis than any other GOP governor, according to the survey.
The survey also looked at approval ratings for U.S. Senators, with Florida’s Marco Rubio and Rick Scott receiving middling reviews. Scott, who is up for reelection in the fall, was not listed among the country’s most vulnerable incumbents, unlike several other senators from both parties.
Overall, the survey provides insight into voter sentiment in various states, with data drawn from three months of daily tracking surveys of voters. The polling was conducted from January to March and includes information from about 9,000 registered voters. Despite his high disapproval rating, DeSantis’s popularity among Republican voters could bode well for his political future.
