Support and Assistance for Ukraine in Response to Russia’s Aggression
The United States and its allies are standing in solidarity with Ukraine in response to Russia’s aggressive and unjustified war against the country. The US has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, providing significant military assistance amounting to billions of dollars.
Since Russia’s invasion in 2014, the US has provided Ukraine with a wide range of military equipment, including air defense systems, artillery, ground maneuver vehicles, aircraft, anti-armor systems, maritime defense equipment, and more. This support aims to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression, secure its borders, and enhance interoperability with NATO.
Additionally, nearly 50 Allies and partner countries have also contributed security assistance to Ukraine, providing essential equipment such as long-range artillery systems, anti-tank munitions, tanks, armored vehicles, and air defense missiles.
The US has utilized Presidential Drawdown Authority on multiple occasions to provide Ukraine with emergency military assistance, totaling billions of dollars. Congress has appropriated significant funds for Foreign Military Financing (FMF) to support Ukraine and other countries impacted by the situation in Ukraine.
Furthermore, the US has engaged in Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) to provide Ukraine with defense articles and services. The US has also supported Ukraine in border security, conventional weapons destruction, and peacekeeping operations.
Through various programs and initiatives, the US continues to stand by Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression, ensuring the country’s security and stability. The partnership between the US and Ukraine remains strong, with joint exercises and military engagements further enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
