Former President Trump’s Campaign Ends March with $45 Million on Hand, Closing Fund-Raising Gap with President Biden

Former President Donald J. Trump’s presidential campaign committee is making strides in closing the fund-raising gap with President Biden, according to federal filings released on Saturday. Despite starting the year with a significant deficit, Trump’s campaign now has $45 million on hand as it prepares for the upcoming general election.

In March, Trump’s campaign spent just $3.7 million, a significant decrease from the $11.4 million spent in January. This conservative spending approach has allowed the campaign to build up its war chest for the general election, as it aims to compete with Biden’s well-funded campaign, which had $85.5 million on hand at the end of March.

Both candidates have been actively raising funds through joint fund-raising agreements with their respective parties, pulling in significant amounts from individual donors. Trump recently reported a massive haul of over $50.5 million from a fund-raising event in Palm Beach, Florida, while Biden raised $26 million at an event in New York.

The race between Trump and Biden has been tightening, with recent polls showing a virtual tie between the two candidates. Trump’s campaign has also benefited from the support of a super PAC, MAGA Inc., which raised $9.4 million in March.

Meanwhile, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been gaining attention, with his campaign receiving a significant boost from his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, a wealthy Silicon Valley lawyer and investor. Kennedy raised $5.4 million in March, with $2 million coming from Shanahan.

As the campaign season heats up, both candidates are ramping up their spending on media buys, production, and other campaign expenses. With the race expected to be closely contested, every dollar raised and spent could make a significant difference in the outcome of the election.
