Reservations and Crop Loan Waiver Take Center Stage in Telangana Election Campaign
The battle for reservations and crop loan waiver has taken center stage in the Lok Sabha election campaign in Telangana state, with the ruling Congress and opposition BJP locked in a heated debate.
TPCC chief and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has been leading the charge against the BJP, accusing them of planning to abolish reservations for SCs, STs, and OBCs. He has warned voters that if the BJP comes to power for a third term, they will align with the “RSS agenda” and scrap the reservations, calling it a surgical strike on marginalized communities.
In response, BJP leaders have vehemently denied these allegations, with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat clarifying that the Sangh has always supported reservations for certain groups and will continue to do so.
On the other hand, the issue of crop loan waiver has also become a hot topic of discussion. Revanth Reddy has promised to waive crop loans of farmers up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15, swearing in the name of famous temples and Gods. The BRS, initially critical of Revanth Reddy’s promises, has now thrown a ‘resignation challenge’ at him, asking if he will step down if he fails to deliver on his promise.
With both parties trading barbs and making bold promises, the election campaign in Telangana has become increasingly intense. Voters will have to weigh the promises and accusations carefully before casting their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
