Phoenix Point: Terror from the Void – A Comprehensive Fan-Built Overhaul

Phoenix Point: Terror from the Void, a fan-built overhaul of the XCOM style strategy game, has just been released, and it’s causing quite a stir in the gaming community. Developed by Snapshot Games, founded by original X-COM creator Julian Gollop, this comprehensive mod offers a complete reworking of the core game’s campaign with new characters, events, redesigned classes, and much more.

Terror from the Void, created by Phoenix Rising, is described as “a true reimagining from the ground up made by fans who love Phoenix Point.” Unlike other mod projects like XCOM Long War, Terror from the Void aims to provide a revamped and upgraded experience for both newcomers and veteran players of the turn-based strategy game.

The mod features a completely reworked main story with new characters, events, and reports, as well as additional lore focusing on sci-fi horror themes. It also reintroduces the Oneiric Delirium feature and adds new semi-randomized modifiers called Void Omens to enhance the Lovecraftian atmosphere of the game.

Classes have been redesigned with sharply defined roles and strong identities, along with rebalancing for overpowered synergies from the base game. Players will also have access to new weapons, improved vehicles, and face new and improved enemies, including the nightmarish Revenants.

With five difficulty options and over 20 modular toggles, players can fine-tune their experience to their liking. The DLC add-ons have also been reworked, offering new mechanics and an expanded marketplace for faction research and special weaponry.
